Colder then a witches mitt

December 7, 2013 by whistlersuperior

Today is December 7th and it’s currently -20 degrees up on the peaks of Whistler Blackcomb. Some people might shy away from the cold but today is actually the day Whistler Blackcomb officially opened the new Crystal Ridge Express chair. This new high speed quad chairlift is really something to be happy about and in our opinion a fantastic investment by Whistler Blackcomb. Some of our favourite groomed runs like Ridge Runner and Rock and Roll are now easier then ever to cycle all day while some of best steep terrain on the mountains like Spanky’s Ladder and Arthur’s Trees, no longer end with a four kilometer cat road. All of these benefits, and lot of pressure taken off the Excelerator Chair, make this new chair a huge score for any Whistler Blackcomb skier or rider. So regardless of the cold weather, grab your warmest jacket and head up Blackcomb Mountain to checkout the newest chair addition, you’ll be glad you did. And to help you warm up, here’s a little recipe for you…

3 ounces dark rum (or to suit taste)
4 tablespoons liquid honey
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 piece lemon rind
1/16 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 -4 inch cinnamon stick (whole)
6 -8 ounces boiling water

– Add to a large heavy duty cup or glass: rum, honey, lemon juice, 1/2 lemon rind, and nutmeg. Stand cinnamon stick in the cup.
– Pour the boiling water and stir well to blend.
– Adjust honey to suit your sweetness and adjust lemon juice to suit your taste.
– Sip slowly and enjoy while thinking about fresh powder and deep turns.
