Whistler’s surge of mountain biker business over the past decade is quite incredible. Bike riders flock from around the globe to rip down the world class, lift accessed, trails on Whistler Mountain and experience the great x-country routes throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor.
Mountain bikers have turned the traditionally quiet Spring, Summer and Fall seasons into a lively, two-wheeled scene of activity with the Crankworx Festival in August as the epicenter. One thing that sets Whistler apart from other mountain bike destinations is that it’s really well set-up to handle riders of all experience levels. Beginners can do tours around the vast Valley Trail network visiting glacier fed lakes and seeing wildlife of all kinds. Intermediate riders love the endless single track around Lost Lake while the more experienced riders can be found in the Whistler Bike Park or the other technical trails throughout the valley. Another part of what makes mountain biking in Whistler so great is that the tourism infrastructure of a world renowned resort is already in place. Amazing hotels, restaurants, shopping, nightlife are all here and the best biking is had when the resort is in “off-season”.
The communities of Whistler, Pemberton and Squamish are home to a ton of avid mountain bikers and trail builders. The trail builders and volunteers from these towns have spent thousands upon thousands of hours building, maintaining and improving these beautiful trails and it really shows. At Whistler Superior Properties, we have a tremendous amount of respect for these volunteers as well as our Off Road Cycling Associations. We can’t thank W.O.R.C.A., P.O.R.C.A. and S.O.R.C.A. enough for organizing trail days, putting together community rides and just being there for the cycling communities they represent!
We hope to welcome you to Whistler for a bike trip sometime soon. Be sure to ask our staff what their favourite trails are!
